Ellie la elefantita creativa - ¡Vamos a leer!

¡Vamos a leer!

Topito terremoto - ¡Vamos a leer!

¿Alguna vez has tenido a Topito Terremoto en tu clase?

¡A mí me encantó!

This super cute book talks about the different way we can leave a print in somebody else's heart. I decided to use it for Valentine's Day but it could also be used at the beginning of the year, Random acts of Kindness week and even Christmas.

It has beautiful  illustrations that I know my students will be able to connect to.
I will be using this activity with my students to talk about different ways to touch someone's heart. Download for FREE here

Hope you and your students enjoy this book! Don't forget to come back next month for another

When I was teaching second and third grade (and even now that I teach Kinder) it was difficult for my students to realize on their own that sometimes the feelings of a character might change throughout the story.

I received this book in my Booklandia order last month and I immediately realized this cute book was perfect to teach that skill.

It begins with a little boy telling us his teacher is a monster!
One day, he has a shocking experience! He runs into his teacher at the park.
After a series of events his feelings about his teacher begin changing <3
And the perspective he had about his teacher changes as well...

You can use this FREEBIE with this book to teach how a character's feelings change in a story.

Vamos a Leer! Los pingüinos adoran los colores

Hola! What I'm about to show you is one of the CUTEST read alouds EVER!!!! I feel in love with this book as soon as I saw the cover. Once I read the story I knew I had to have it. Los pingüinos adoran los colores is perfect for the first week of kindergarten. I love how colorful it is (obviously). It's simple to read, the images are absolutely ADORABLE, and it will allow me to go over a very important lesson in a dual language classroom: COLORS!!!

When I taught dual language kindergarten for the first time, I quickly learned I was very mistaken to assume all my kids knew their colors. For some it was easy to recognize them, but others (specially my non-Spanish speakers) needed some extra help. I decided then and there a lesson on colors the first day/week of kindergarten is a MUST, and it's even more important in a dual language setting. \
You can grab a copy of this book HERE

This year I will use this cute story to review colors, my color posters in Spanish, and the FREEBIE at the end of this post.

The story is basically about 6 penguins who want to surprise their mom and they decide to use paint to create a lil something for her...and of course... they end up making a huge mess (momma penguin doesn't seem to mind though)

I'm sure your students will LOVE this story. Here's a FREEBIE for you to use this with. I've included an English and a Spanish copy :)

Please, Mr. Panda - Vamos a leer!

You walk into Barnes & Noble, Target (or anywhere really) and you go straight to the children's books section...trying to find books for your students in Spanish but there's only a few and not really anything you want/need. You glance at the English section and  you wish it was that easy for you to find books! Sound familiar?

I bet it does if you're a bilingual/ESL/dual-language teacher!
Don't get me wrong. I love teaching in Spanish but all the time I see these amazing ideas on Pinterest using the best books out there and then it hits me... the activity is in English! UGH!!!

Great news is I will be sharing with you some books and ideas that you can use in your Spanish elementary class. Since I will be teaching kindergarten this year I will try to keep my ideas closer to k-2 but maybe someday I'll share some of my ideas for the upper grades :)

And most importantly! I will most definitively try to give you a link from Amazon, Barnes and Noble or Target so you can purchase your book online! Searching will be way easier for you!

Today's book is one I plan to use on the first day (or week) of school. It is one of the best ones I have found to teach my kids about the word PLEASE.

It starts out with this sweet 'grumpy' panda and a box of donuts. He runs into many friends and offers them a donut but all he gets are rude responses and decides not to give them a donut.
Until he finds a cute little friend who says PLEASE!

This book is simple, to the point and perfect for a back to school manners lesson! Plus the text is in English AND Spanish!

As I promised, here is a FREEBIE you can use with your kids to go along with this book:)

You can find this book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble

Have a great school year!!
